Yesterday was “National Columnist Day”. You are a writer, so the idea of being your own columnist and writing your own press releases should come naturally, or does it? Who knows more about you than…you! But do you have what it takes to sell yourself?
Press releases are a wonderful way to let people know about anything you want to announce…including your book. You write it as if someone else were writing it for you.
Depending upon the personality, this may not be as easy as it sounds. If you are the type of person who finds it hard to speak positively about yourself, you may not find it easy to talk about your accomplishment in the enthusiastic and positive way that is needed to sell it. If you know this is your tendency, you can do your best to put that thinking aside for a while and write as if you were someone else writing about your great new book or publication.
Besides newspapers, there are sites on the web where you can publicize yourself with your press release…or with a little rewording, you can use the same write up on article marketing sites.
Rather than “re-invent the wheel” so to speak, I found a site that lists 50 free press release services, I don’t know what ones are better than another, but as you look through them, consider whether the site is one that you’d take a second look at…how appealing are they at first glance?
